Brief background:
Rico is the son of a decorated (albeit minor commendation) enlisted man who served as a space fighter technician in one of the UPF’s fighter carrier. during the 2nd Sathar War his father was killed when his starship was heavily damaged by a Sathar attack.

This event has caused Rico to have an unnatural hatred towards Sathars. His ambition is to one day become a space fighter pilot and serve on a fighter carrier just like his dad and get back at the filthy "worms".

He’s good looking and smart. Not much of a gunfighter or a pugilist but put him behind the controls of any vehicle and his real value comes to light.

Welcome aboard! Scabbers is gonna get along fine with Dosärmas and Red, but there ain't no Ducs in the Frontier LOL

If you read up on Frontier history, Pan Galactixon is the earliest of the current manufacturers of ground and hover cycles, dating back to before the first Sathar War. Pan Galactic acquired the Galactixon Motor Company when they were going through some financial woes resulting from troublesome quality control and reliability issues stemming from their Duracell-head motor (noted by the copper top on the electric motor cover), a motor that derived from prior generations such as the Eveready-head and Rayovac-head motors. PGC, in essence, saved the Galtixon Motor Company from bankruptcy and they continued to offer Duracell-head powered bikes during the transition.

The inherrent beauty of the old Galatixon engines was their simplicity, they were very easy to work on and a proficient technician could perform a full rebuild in a short time, resorting to a healthy variety of both manufacturer and aftermarket parts availability (not to mention the wide array of "canibalized parts", such as the infamous motor coil from the Gord flathead six motor or the brush housings from a Galactic Motors ventral-eight).

As such, PGC footed the R&D funding for the design of their next engine: the GENeration (aka the stockhead), and just before production the 13 company heads of Galactixon purchased the company back from PGC, and thus renamed their products under the new badge of "Pan Galactixon". The PGC era bikes had a mixed review, the older riders resent the newer product blaming PGC for ruining the designs while the newer riders talk smack about the older designs, but the truth is that the Galactixon Motor Company products were faulty before PGC acquired them.

Anyways, the GENeration motor proved to be a gamble that the 13 investor/owners didn't mind rolling the dice for. The motor ended up being everythingit had been promised to be: a reliable engine based on the original timeless design. Their latest engine is the TG-880B (aka the Twin Generator aka the "twinjee") and has replaced the GENeration across the entire line-up.

Meanwhile, during the PGC transition there were some serious competitors from four distinct Streel-sibling companies that challenged Galactic Motor Company during all three phases of their business tenure. Marks like Hyondow, Kyawaskai, Sushuzi, and Yamihai were belting out some high perfomance low cost machines that proved themselves both on the track and on the roads. They sported newer technology and bulletproof reliability, and when Streel sensed that the Galactic Motor Company was in trouble they pulled a fast one and began dumping their products into the market at below-wholesale pricing. This illegal trade practice was quickly noticed by both the local economist leaders and the legal team of Galactic Motor Company, hence it was brought before the Council of Worlds and it was decided that a tarriff would be placed on all ground and hover cycles produced under the various Streel marks.

Meanwhile, several subsidiaries of Cassidine Development Corporation entered and left the market during the GMC/Streel competition era. Manufacturers like CSA, Dorton, and Triamf began to lose ground to Streel's screamers, and only Triamf survived (and barely at that). And other marks like Buckerton Motor Works (of Kdikit) and Danati (named after Pale's moon) silently soldiered on while providing their niche market products.

The modern ground and hover cycle market is thriving and competition is fierce. Pan Galatixon continues to duke it out with Hyondow for top market share each year, while Kyawaskai, Sushuzi, & Yamihai consistently slug it out for third place. Triamf is belting out some incredible products for all the niche markets, and Buckerton Motor Works continues to offer luxury comfort and decent performance. Danati is still the leader in handling despite the breakthroughs from Streel's subordinates, but they are fully aware of this and continue to pour funding into superior suspension and braking technology, with their most recent (and most expensive) 999 model leading the way. And finally, Herik Fuell (former design engineer and current subsidiary of Pan Galatixon) has challenged Danati by offering some street sensible alternatives.

i did that...i thought we each get 5000cr? 2050cr is the money left after my shopping spree. the tech kit i get for free according to the rulebook right? i only paid for the blaster, 2 extra clips, SEP, and the ground cycle.

hello shadowshack! thanks for the info regarding the bikes of the SF. duly noted on my bike, hehehe. but make it a dunati 400 monster. Laughing

I think we get that bike here in the States now, is it "Tank" brand? Vision 3i or something like that...As far as the China-clones go, I'm kinda impartial to the JohnnyPag Spyder:

Of course I don't have 4 grand to drop on a custom/clone, I picked up a 250 Rebel for $200 and dumped another $800 into it so far, about 80% complete at the moment:

And before that I did this one...

Finishing up on this one:

But wait, there's more...

Aw shoot I'm getting lazy/too many links. Just browse my homepage:

(I kinda favor the Hyondow Shea-Dow, named after Streel's CEO)

@shadow shack

whoah! cool bikes. well the XT on my bikes name stand for kinroad Xin Tiang. the difficulty with chinese brands is that they change their names when they export it. i guess for name recall purposes. its easier to remember english names if you are selling in an english speaking country.

here in the philippines, my bike came with around 4 different brand names, depending on who imported it. they are basically the same bike except for the name. as you know chinese bikes are dirt cheap compared to japanese, american, or european bikes. consequently, they are lower in quality than the other manufacturers but with my personal experience if you add plenty of care and work within the limits of a chinese bike it will serve you well. mine is almost two years old, aside from the basic maintenance and normal wear and tear its still runs really well. if you have time check out this link, most is written in english but some are written in the local dialect.

THe "chinese invasion" is definitely here to stay. Not sure if you know the history behind it, but at the time (around 2000) Sundiro, China's #4 motorcycle builder, entered into an agreement with Honda to produce a cloned 125/250 Rebel that they dubbed the Sundiro Spirit. About a year afterwards Sundiro dried up/disappeared into the desert, and another 6 months pass when some "eerily familiar" designs start popping up under various different names, perhaps for the reasons you stated. My guess is someone in Sundiro did an under the table deal with the Rebel design before/after they folded up.

From my understanding Vento has a similar agreement with Yamaha for the 250 Virago (either that or they reverse engineered the Virago), but unlike Sundiro they actually have something on the market: the Vento Colt, a rather decent looking bike.

Anyways, the Chinese bikes here for the most part aren't the bargains they should be. Most of them are priced within a few hundred dollars of the real deal...a new Rebel lists for $3100 and the various 250 Rebel clones can be had for $2500-2800 with the Johnny Pag Spyder leading the pack at $3500, but that's a unique case since it's a custom. Only the chinese dirt bikes can be considered deals, averaging about half of what the equivilent Japanese brand would cost.

The big issue here is dealers. Anyone that sells these bikes is doing it on the side, as a secondary business that they tend to along with their primary business. For example, we have a chain of automotive parts shops called "Auto Zone" here and they offer some of the various incarnations of chinese dirtbikes. Another guy here sells Tank motorcycles out of his personal residence. E-Bay members are notorious for selling the china-bikes. A motorcycle repair shop here sells the Vento COlt and the Johnny Pag Spyder. With the exception of the MC repair shop, I really can't see buying from any of the others as service and parts availability becomes questionable. Especially with the guy selling out of his living room, he can fold up anytime he wants...too many here today/gone tomorrow tales floating around for anyone to really take them seriously here.

As far as the name brand stuff goes, you'll like the Steed. That's the same bike as we get here dubbed a Shadow VLX (the one I have a few renditions of LOL). Lots of aftermarket support for the bikes so there's a good selection of neat things you can add to it.

HAHA! nothing gets by the all seeing eye of sau---er---parriah!

yep she's a looker alright.

a little background on that photo. it was taken at the parking lot of a local theme park. it was a "ride-for-a-cause" kind of thing. the whole group was composed of over 300 riders. we rode in convoy from manila to laguna (where the theme park was located). waiting for us there are a group of orphans. we gave them rides on our bikes going around the parking lot. it was lots of fun.

the girl in the photo is one of the staff of the organizers. she was the one handing out the free souvenir t-shirts (i didn't get one though, we were so numerous, stocks ran out before i got one). i deliberately posed in front of her and had my friend take my pix. unfortunately, the moment he took the pix she turned her head way **curses!** hahaha! Laughing

ps
i really am the hamster! i only take human form when the sun is up. Laughing

@shadow shack
yep i like the steed, i have a riding buddy who owns one and he let me take it on a spin once. having ridden mostly sports bike in attack position it was quite pleasant to ride comfortably on a cruiser.

chinese spare parts are no problem here though, i guess this is because we are closer to china than the US. moreover, the chinese bikes that comes out here are like i said before clones of the japanese models. so believe it or not the most parts are interchangeable. example my bike's 150cc 1-cylinder 4-stroke engine is the same as the honda tmx 155cc. so if any of my parts actually break down, i don't buy a chinese replacement anymore, i just buy a higher quality spare part from honda. Very Happy

i like the johnny pag bikes! i forwarded the site to some of my riding buddies who're cruiser riders. one 'em is actually in the process of customizing his cruiser.

by the way, i consider you quite knowledgeable about bikes. what do you think of the 1984 suzuki gs750g? i know of someone here whose selling and i'm thinking about it, here is the link

After ten years of riding cruisers, I find myself wanting a sportbike LOL Problem here is the insurance is rediculously high for them...I have five cruisers insured for a fraction of what a single sportbike would cost for the same coverage. If I get a sport, it'll have to be either 250 or 500cc or something old like a first generation CBR600 Hurricane.

I'm not wise to many of the older bikes, but that looks like Suzuki's contender from the post-UJM days where Japan was lifting themselves from that tagline and producing bikes with more stylish flair.

lots of good folk there with a wide variety of bikes. You might get some feedback from actual GS owners as well, pretty sure I recall seeing at least one regular there that has a 750.

EDIT --- and here's a new guy that just posted there today that had one:
